Vickie Dinneen
Raised in South Florida, Vickie Dinneen is a Legal Nurse Consultant and Registered Nurse with the Law Offices of Steven M. Ziegler, P.A. She earned her degree in Nursing in 1971 from Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Miami. In 1980 she became certified by Lamaze International as a childbirth educator and is a Fellow with the American College of Childbirth Educators. With nursing experience in the areas of newborn nursery, pediatrics, orthopedics, and both patient and community health education, she was appointed Director of Education at a South Florida hospital in 1984. In 1987, her varied nursing experience led to her association with a South Florida defense law firm in the capacity of Legal Nurse Consultant. Assigned the task of Risk Management Designee for a local hospital, Ms. Dinneen investigated claims, implemented corrective action plans, educated staff, and ensured compliance with the state and federal reporting requirements for that acute care facility. She earned her Florida Healthcare Risk Manager license in 1991 through the American Institute of Medical Law. In 1998 the American Board of Nursing Specialties, in coordination with The American Legal Nurse Consultant Certification Board, recognized the practice of Legal Nurse Consulting as a specialty within the practice of nursing, and in 1999 she obtained her Legal Nurse Consultant Certification.
In 2001, Ms. Dinneen became associated with the Law Offices of Steven M. Ziegler, P.A., where she serves as a powerful liaison between the legal and healthcare communities by evaluating, analyzing and rendering informed opinions on the delivery of healthcare and it’s resultant outcomes. In keeping with the Scope of Practice set by the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, she assists in educating the attorneys about the healthcare facts and issues involved in a case or claim, researches and integrates medical literature as it relates to the facts and issues of each matter, reviews, summarizes and analyzes medical records and other healthcare and legal documents to compare and correlate them to allegations, assists in damage and causation issues relative to liability, identifies, locates, evaluates and confers with expert witnesses, assists in the development of collaborative case strategies, and provides continued support during the discovery process and trial.
Ms. Dinneen currently teaches Lamaze Childbirth classes and is a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, the South Florida Chapter of American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, Lamaze International, and the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
